This past weekend I traveled to Raleigh to host the bridal shower for Ms. Lauren Price. I reserved the private room at Vivace Restaurant – a delicious Italian place in the North Hills section of town.
We kept it to a small group of about 12 people each ordering a salad, a main dish and a dessert. Everyone seemed to order something different and all gave great reviews on the food. A few of us started with mimosas because who doesn’t love champagne and orange juice? My order was as follows: [Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of my food, but I can assure you I cleaned every plate]
– Seasonal salad with fennel, grapes, carrots, spiced hazelnuts and lemon-honey vinaigrette
– Braised Pork Orcchiette with piquillo peppers, orange segments and sage
– Affogato served as a scoop of vanilla gelato in a cappuccino cup with a side of espresso to douse over the ice cream. It. Was. Delicious.
We chatted, ate, played a little bridal trivia and opened presents. One of my favorite activities was the spoon game. Lauren and I decorated the wooden spoons with buttons and ribbons. Most were over the top but each was adorned differently. Each guest had to pick a spoon based on which embellished utensil they were most attracted to. A single word associated with Lauren and Sean appeared on the backside of each spoon. Each person had to write a story or a few words explaining the relevance of the word to Lauren and Sean’s life. Some of the words included glass, FSU, Apex and Fred. Check back in a few months to see the ridiculous [albeit awesome] rehearsal bouquet created out of the spoons.
